Vintage ’50s/’60s Yellow Fox Fur Lilli Ann Coat-Tisse a Paris-One Size-Lg/XL Picture(s) and Description:
I have two Lilli Ann fur coats left in my once-extensive collection, and this is one of them. . . a golden yellow dramatic design with the circular collar. (Note that the Eisenberg Original pin/clip does not go with the coat. . .shown here just to give you an idea of how you can dress up the garment.) Plus, the coat is in wonderful condition, really excellent shape considering its age. The coat features the classic A-line design of the late ‘50s/early ‘60s. . .roomy sloped shoulders falling away into a luxurious use of fabric, a blend of wool, mohair, and other natural fibers . . .the slightly belled sleeves adding the finishing touch. The “Lilli Ann. . .Paris. . .San Francisco” label can be found in the neckline. . .the unique “Tisse a Paris. . .pour Lilli Ann. . .Paris” tag inside on the right side. Of course, there is no size tag, but here are flat seam-to-seam measurements to help you decide whether to bid (shown here on size 8 dress form, 36/28/38): 52 inch bust; 56 inches at the waist; 60 inch hip; 84 inches around the hem;16 inch shoulders; 18 ½ inch sleeves; 44 inches in length from top of collar to hem; 1 5/8 inch hem allowance. (The coat is shown here on a size 8 dress form. . .meant to hang fully so the garment will fit a wide range of bodies. . .think Julianne Moore in Far from Heaven!) Note that the fox fur collar measures 6 ½ inches wide and approximately 42 inches long as it curves around at attaches at the left shoulder with two hooks. Also, you’ll find a snap piece on the coat near the collar but no corresponding snap piece on the end of the collar. Thus, the previous owner has safety pinned the wool/mohair collar piece to the fur piece on the underside so the wool piece won’t hang down loose. In fact, you’ll find several safety pins on the underside attaching the collar to the coat. . .so it leads me to believe that the fur collar was added. . .maybe not because it is perfect in size and length. Anyway, the fur piece can be totally detached by removing the safety pins. Also, you’ll note three fabric-covered buttons as closures, each securely attached and measuring 1 5/8 inch in diameter. . .and 7 inch slanted pockets. Meanwhile, the garment is fully lined in a matching yellow satin fabric. . .overall excellent condition. As far as condition, the fur is full, soft and supple with no shedding of note. The lining has one small dark stain at the middle bottom a few inches from the hem. Finally, you’ll find a few small chew marks in the coat. . .two very small ones on the back near the middle. . .a few around the hem. . .nothing terribly noticeable. . .and one very small lightish mark on the back of the coat, left side several inches above the hem. You have to look closely to see any of these concerns. I wouldn’t let these issues deter me from bidding if you really like the coat. . .a one-of-a-kind creation!! And Lilli Anns are getting more difficult to find. . .one more from me and my supply is gone! And best of all, offered at a VERY REASONABLE RESERVE! PayPal accepted. Winning bidder to pay parcel post or priority shipping/handling, amount depending on winner’s location and packed weight of dress (just over four pounds). Insurance extra. Thanks for looking. . .hope somebody wins. . .and hope you visit my other auctions for more vintage treasures. Win more than one auction, and I’ll be happy to combine shipping to save you money. Good luck and happy eBaying!
